Here they are, 4 ways to unclog a shower drain:

1. Pour boiling water down the drain.

Because we are talking about boiling water, pouring it down the shower drain means that it will soften the soap or grease that is causing the clog. Thus, this method is a great starting point because it will help out with the following solutions. Check them out.

2. Use baking soda and vinegar solution, a fantastic natural alternative to chemicals!

After you poured boiling water you can now use this mixture which a great alternative to any chemicals on the market. Just start pouring a cup of baking soda down the drain, and then let it sit for 5 minutes. When the time has passed, pour a cup of vinegar down too. Now it is time to let it act overnight, so you can make sure that any hair left is unclogged. In the morning, you can finish the job by pouring boiling water down again. This method is great because it is natural and quite preferable when you have kids.

3. Salt, borax, and vinegar make a strong team

This is another method that will also work because it is a little more aggressive. The formula consists of mixing ¼ cup salt with ½ cup vinegar and ¼ cup Borax. The mixture worked amazing in my situation, following up with hot water. My issue was the laundry sink but you can use it safely on any clogged drain you have either in the kitchen or in the bathroom.

4. Use a plumbers’ snake – the hard work will pay off

This is also a preferable method by a lot of people. I also find it efficiently but only used for regular unclogging and maintenance. My first two methods are my-go when the issue is more serious. When I am finally successful in unclogging my shower drain, then I push the snake down the drain to reach any daily clog there might be.
