12 Must-Know Cleaning Hacks For A Sparkling Bathroom

Hi guys! I don’t know about you, but when it comes to cleaning, suddenly a head and belly ache starts to install in my body. Why? Well, because bathroom is the most dreaded room in every house, where moisture creates the perfect environment for mold and bacteria development.

Thankfully, I’ve found some awesome tricks and cleaning hacks that will blast off that messy and grimy bathroom environment in minutes, and also will “relieve” those headaches.
As a bonus, besides being quick and effective, these cleaning hacks are insanely cheap, making even the filthiest bathroom look shiny in the blink of an eye.

1. Make your bathtub shine
Yeah, I know! Soap scum, dust and oily linings will appear on your bathtub if you don’t clean it regularly. It’s advisable to rinse the bathtub after each bath to remove any surface soap scum and body oil lingering on it, and apply an intense weekly cleaning, as it follows:

  • Sprinkle baking soda all over the bathtub and then spray over it hydrogen peroxide, let it for a few minutes to react, and then scrub the tub a bit and rinse it with cold water.
  • Another option is to mix equal parts of Dawn dish soap with vinegar and apply it all over the bathtub surface and slightly start rubbing it with a sponge. Rinse at the end thoroughly with water.

2. Clean the shower along with the shower head
Soap scums will also accumulate on the shower cap and walls, especially on the glass shower doors, making them look disgusting. But, with a cloth soaked in vinegar you’ll exterminate any trace of soap scum on the shower glass and walls.
Also, you can soak a sock in vinegar and put it on the shower cap, let it stand for 10 minutes, and lime scale will vanish like magic.

3. Clean the shower curtain
This is the most neglected item when you clean the bathroom. And it shouldn’t be, because it’s the perfect environment for mold development. Fortunately, cleaning the shower curtain is pretty easy. All you need to do is soaking it for 30 minutes in a basin with warm water and 2 cups of vinegar.

4. Clean the bathroom sink
Even if the sink is not very challenging when it comes to cleaning, you have to give it some attention, especially if yellow stains start to appear on it. Mix vinegar with water in equal parts, and start wiping it. Rinse at the end!

5. Shiny toilet bowl
This is a dirty job, but with a can of coke you’ll dissolve any trace of dirt. Let it sit for 40 minutes then scrub the inside of the toilet bowl with the toilet brush and flush. This soda will make any dirty toilet shiny as new.

6. Clean the toilet seat
Never been easier! Soak a few paper towels in vinegar and wrap the toilet bowl with them. Let them stand for 15 minutes, and then remove them. This method will clean and also disinfect the toilet seat.

7. Clean the toilet brush
Cleaning the toilet brush once in a while is as important as cleaning the toilet bowl. Let it stand in undiluted vinegar for 15 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Then, add a small amount of Pine-Sol in the toilet brush holder to maintain a nice and fresh smell in the bathroom.

8. Sparkling faucets
This is one of the easiest tasks when you clean the bathroom. Just grab 1 or 2 lemons, cut them in half and start rubbing each faucet side, let the lemon juice stand for 10 minutes, and then rinse with cold water.

9. Make the chrome faucets shine
Why using expensive chrome cleaner when you can try baby oil instead. Just dab some baby oil on a cotton cloth and wipe the faucets after cleaning them thoroughly with lemon.

10. Mold-free grout
Cleaning the toilet bowl may be a dirty job, but cleaning the grout is a hard task. But, if you mix ½ baking soda with ¼ hydrogen peroxide and ½ tsp of dish soap in a bowl until it forms a paste, and then apply the paste on the grout and wait for 30-40 minutes, you’ll be amazed how this no-scrub method will leave your grout spotless.

11. Blast off any bathroom rust
Yeah, I know! Those hard water rust stains are a nuisance when they appear on the tub, sink or pipes, but if you use WD-40 you’ll break down the bonds between the metal and rust. Then use a brush and gently scrub until rust disappears.

12. Clean and unclog drains
All those hair threads go directly onto the drain, and on long term they will create a hair plug. To unclog the drains, you can throw 2-3 Aka Seltzer tablets then pour a cup of vinegar and wait for 10 minutes. At the end pour 3 gallons of hot water to rinse the drains thoroughly. Repeating this process once a month you’ll keep the drains clean & unclogged.
